How to Check Your Backlinks on Yahoo!

If youve been out there building links to your website for some time now, you may be wondering how many of your links have actually been picked up by the search engines. This is a very legitimate question to have! There are several different things you can do to find out how many backlinks have been picked up by a search engine, but today were going to focus on how to check how many backlinks Yahoo! says that you have.

Before we get started, you need to keep in mind that you may have built more links than Yahoo! shows you. Thats the nature of things with search engines. Your links arent picked up the same time they are created. Also, these will only be the links picked up by Yahoo!, Google and the other search engines probably have a different number as well.

So lets get started on how to check your backlinks with Yahoo!.

First, go to Yahoo.com and click inside the search bar. In the search bar you need to type in site:www.yourdomainname.com, replacing the sample domain name with your own of course. Then hit enter or click on Web Search. This will take you to a page in Yahoo! called the Yahoo! Search Site Explorer.

If you go down the page just a little bit, youll see where it says Results, and right below that it says Pages (number) | Inlinks (number). Pages tells you how many pages Yahoo! has found in this website, and Inlinks tells you how many links are coming to the site. But we need to filter this a little bit. So go ahead and click on the tab that says Inlinks.

Once you click on Inlinks youll see two drop down menus. By default they will say From All Pages and Only this URL respectively. This is how we are going to filter the information. The problem is that the number we see right now also includes when we are inter-linking on our own website. In fact, if you scroll down and look at some of the listings, you may see your own website on the list. Well, for backlinks we dont care when were linking to ourself, so click on that first dropdown menu and choose Except from this domain. This will take all of the links from your own site off the list and just leave the links from other websites.

Once you do this the page is going to refresh and the number next to Inlinks will most likely drop. Now we move to the next box that currently says Only this URL. If we leave it like this well see just the links that are coming to the home page. But if you want to see how many links are coming to the entire site, we need to change this second drop down menu to say Entire Site. At this point the page will refresh again and the numbers should change next to Inlinks.

Now you have the number of links that Yahoo! has found that are coming back to the website. If you want to get more information about these actual links youll need to go down the list and click on some of them. See if you can find your link on the page they are referencing and see what phrase is being used as your anchor text. I wouldnt spend a ton of time doing this, but its a very easy way to see if your links are getting picked up by the search engines.

Hybrid Cars - Fast Becoming The People's Choice

Buying a new car is a big and pricey decision for most people, and on top of that, the ever rising oil prices make it an even more expensive proposition to maintain and run your own car. With unstable oil prices, which keep shifting with the war, the gold, politics or the rains, it is not strange that the market is eager to be offered more fuel-efficient cars. As if this is not enough, our conscience is now being totally badgered day in and day out, by the awareness that the large scale use of fossil fuels like gasoline, oil etc. is making the environment go kaput. Throwing away the gasoline powered engines would perhaps be easy on our scruples. But is the answer so simple?

Rising out of the need, to find an answer to this question mark and for a solution to the looming oil crisis is a new breed of cars, which combines the best features of electric cars with that of the conventional gasoline, powered ones. These types of cars are called hybrid cars, and you are likely to hear a great deal about them in the near future.

More than Just an Electric Car

At the first go, the electric car sounds like a great idea since it has no emissions while it runs. However, this is only partially true as the total emissions depend on how the electricity to be used is produced. If it comes from a coal plant for example, it isn't very clean after all said and done. Furthermore, the storage of large amounts of electricity is problematic at best and in practice, turns electric cars to pure bred city cars-at least with the ways we currently store electricity.

Hybrid cars merge an electric engine with a gasoline powered one. It means that although the use of gasoline can not be abridged to completely zero levels, it can still be greatly reduced. The twin engines also allow for smaller engines to be used and take advantage of things like regenerative breaking. Also, as a direct result of the need to reduce the energy needed to run them, the hybrid cars are extremely lightweight and aerodynamically well designed. In slow traffic, the conventional engine automatically shuts off, producing no emissions whatsoever. When more speed and power is needed, the conventional engine is allowed to seamlessly kick in partially or fully.

Hybrid cars are here to stay because it protects environment

In this domain, the Japanese have taken the lead by developing attractive looking hybrid vehicles, such as the hybrid powered Honda Accord and Toyota Prius. Contrary to what one might hear, these cars have got on very well in the market as the idea of saving on gas is clearly appealing to many people. Most well established North American manufacturers are also expected to jump on the bandwagon of this new idea very soon. Those who have already launched hybrid-powered version of some of their models include- Ford, Chevrolet and Mercury.

As this is a rapidly growing market, many of these cars can be expected to appear more commonly at local car dealers. Because this is considered an innovative technology, one can expect the initial prices to be on the higher side. But then again, a hybrid car will mean considerable savings on gas expenses. No doubt, the competition will be quite severe so it will be fascinating to see how the pricing of these cars develops during the next few years.

The best thing for Mother Nature would be to wipe gas fumes out of the picture completely; and bringing us a step closer to this are the hybrid cars. They represent one of the best alternatives for automobile purchase right now- combining the cleanliness of the electric engine with the mileage of a conventional combustion engine. Rather than the eccentric, they represent innovation; rather than the anarchic, they signal revolution. Hybrid cars are here now- and here to stay.

CDL Training - What Can it Do for You?

What is a CDL?

CDL stands for "Commercial Drivers License." In order to drive a large truck (like an 18-wheeler) you must have a CDL. Many people mistakenly think that they must go out and finance their CDL training themselves (which can cost several thousand dollars), but many companies looking for new truck drivers are willing to finance your education provided you sign a commitment to stay with the company after being certified.

Why do you want a CDL?

Are you stuck in a dead-end job? The trucking industry is facing a shortage because of increased competition in other jobs pushing truckers' wages up. Many experienced truckers make up to $80,000 per year! In addition to the great pay truckers have the opportunity to see different parts of the country and meet new people.

What is the first step?

The first step is looking around to find a company who will help you get CDL training - Driver's Agent Network is a network that specializes in such intelligent matching. They will look at your current needs and find the best match for you to maximize your wage while reducing any out of pocket expenses for you.

What should you consider first?

Trucking can be a difficult industry for some people. Before becoming a trucker you should consider whether you can handle being away from home for weeks at a time and if life on the road is right for you. If you don't feel comfortable with these requirements you can always consider getting your CDL and running local routes (also known as regional routes) which allow you to go home every night.

After finding a great opportunity you will just need to start your training and hit the road - you will be surprised at how quickly you can be a part of the trucking community and making great money!

Preston is an advisor to various people looking for new jobs. Whether you are considering a job in trucking or becoming an actor Preston will be there to help you make the decision that is best for you.

Pressure Washer Repair

Pressure washers, or power washers are used for cleaning dirt, stubborn stains, grime and dust from almost all kinds of surfaces including glass, wood, concrete, fiber and steel via high pressure water flow.

Pressure washers have a lot of parts for effective functioning. The main parts in a pressure washer are the electric or gasoline-powered engine attached to a pump. This pump compresses the water and builds up pressure. The hose has a trigger that has the option of spraying the water either in short bursts or as a continuous spray. The power of the washer depends on the strength of the pump. The nozzle or the tip is also a very important component. This tip can be adjusted at different angels for adjusting the pressure of the water. The smallest angle generates the highest pressure. Larger angles up to 40 degrees are for generating sprays covering larger surface area. Pressure washers also contain a detergent injector that helps to steadily mix the detergent with the water. Other main parts in a pressure washer are the hose, hose reels, valves, heating and cooling components and other plumbing and electrical fittings.

In order to function properly, it is important that all parts are in good working condition. Pressure washers have to be serviced regularly because of the accumulation of dust and grime where they are used. Maintenance involves cleaning the nozzle, which gets clogged with dirt, causing excessive pressure to develop, distorting the spray pattern. Other parts may also develop problems and may have to be replaced from time to time. It is better to consult a hardware technician about pressure washer repair. You can also do a few small repairs and replacements by getting parts from a hardware store. The Internet is a good source of information as well as for buying pressure washer parts. There are several sites that provide useful information about pressure washer repair.

Pressure Washers provides detailed information about pressure washers, hot pressure washers, electric pressure washers, pressure washer parts and more. Pressure Washers is the sister site of Blower Fans.

The Use of Glass in Architecture

Acclaimed architect Bruno Taut said, If we want our culture to rise to a higher level, we are obligated for better or for worse, to change our architecture. And this only becomes possible if we take away the closed character from the rooms in which we live. We can only do that by introducing glass architecture, which lets in the light of the sun, the moon, and the stars.

A New Architectural Era
Built in Hyde Park, London to house the Great Exhibition in 1851 the Crystal Palace is commonly considered as a significant turning point in architectural history. This magnificent structure built from steel and glass paved the way for further exploration of glass as an architectural element. The glass sail of the new Milan trade fair and Louvre pyramid are other stunning example of the use of glass as a structural as well as a design element. Other examples of glass architecture include the London Bridge, Agbar and Federazija Towers as well as the Tokyo International Forum.

While the use of glass in construction was previously quite limited to grand designs and office buildings it is starting to become a core structural and design element in many homes. Glass facilitates natural light and opens up rooms allowing smaller spaces to look bigger as well as facilitating a natural indoor/outdoor flow which often enhances the tranquillity as well as the value of your home. Glass is also relatively inexpensive and fully recyclable, an important consideration in the current era of heightened environmental consciousness. Glass use in construction has increased dramatically due to the rapid changes in glass production and technology. Previously glass was thought to be quite a fragile building material and many steered away from it because of this. Modern glass, however, is not only spectacular to look through but it is safer, stronger and energy efficient.

Glass in the home
In the past glass was mainly utilized for windows to allow some air and light in to rooms. Today glass is utilized in the construction of several elements of exterior and interior architecture. Exterior glass architecture includes facades, display windows skylights, skywalks, entrances, revolving doors, canopies, winter gardens and conservatories. All of which allow homes to be bathed in natural sunlight with gorgeous outdoor views. Interior glass architecture can be used for staircases, elevated walkways and even as traditional walls. There are some houses in which all of the walls are actually glass. Such high quantities of glass previously compromised other aspects such as the heating and cooling requirements. Often glass architecture would incur high heating costs in winter and cooling costs in summer. Fortunately such great progress has been made in the glass industry that we now have access a variety of different kinds of glass each with fantastic benefits. One such example is glass with spectrally-selective qualities, which allows light to stream into the house without being harmful or degenerative to occupants and their belongings.

Caring for your Glass
To keep your glass looking great and streak free you will need to ensure that it is cleaned often. Try a few different cleaning solutions before you decide which one to use, options vary from store bought to home made solutions. Many use products such as ammonia, vinegar, borax, alcohol or Epsom salts to clean glass. An important point to remember is that when using your own solutions never combine an acid and an alkaline, for example vinegar and ammonia, as they neutralise on another. After washing use a dry cotton towel rather than paper towels or newspaper as they tend to disintegrate and leave deposits on your glass. For a great shine a dry blackboard eraser can be used.

To keep frost from accumulating on exterior windows during the winter, add two cups of antifreeze or rubbing alcohol to each gallon of wash water. For deposits of paint, resin or glue wet the surface and then scrape them off using a razor blade scraper. Take care to scrape in one direction only in order to avoid scratching the surface.

Another option, and a fantastic one at that, is the breakthrough technology that has brought us self-cleaning glass. An ultra-thin coating is applied to the glass during the manufacturing process; this coating has two highly beneficial effects on the glass. First organic residue on the glass broken down by the ultraviolet wavelengths in sunlight then when it rains the dirt is washed off. As the coating is hydrophilic when rain hits the glass, it doesn't form droplets and in turn eradicates streaking. Rain water flows down the glass in a sheet and washes the dirt away. If you dont have time to wait for the rain a simple garden hose will be just as effective. Self-cleaning glass is making the lives of homeowners far easier and is giving home owners absolutely no reason to hesitate to use of glass in the construction of their homes. What could be better than bright, open rooms with excellent outdoor views facilitated by huge sheets of glass, without having to spend your days cleaning them?

Modern day architectural trends have elevated the way we think about the use of glass in our own homes. It is no longer simply a material for windows and the occasional sliding door; it is a design component in its own right.

With each passing day glass becomes a more important element in architecture not only in grand public structures but also in the lives and homes of families across the world. The beauty of glass lies in its simplicity, it enables us to be enveloped by nature while living comfortably in doors.

Many architects, designers and construction companies recommend Pilkington when it comes to glass. Having been in the glass industry for 179 years, Pilkington is recognised as the world's technological leader in glass. Out of all of their innovative products, Pilkington Activ - the world's first self-cleaning glass is one of their greatest products and is an ideal material in glass architecture.
